A few weeks ago I got a big jar of Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil in the mail, and it was just sitting there on the counter, waiting to be used. So, today I decided it was time to try this idea I had on my mind for quite a while. This simple recipe only takes two ingredients, and makes a perfect homemade coconut oil lotion which works great for the skin. Plus, a little will go a long way.
**Update: I must say that I simply LOVE this coconut oil lotion recipe! At first, my skin would become quite greasy after using it, but now I’ve realized that the more your skin gets used to it, the less greasy it is. To cut it short, I’ll never use a different lotion from now on. Plus, I can change the scent of it whenever I get bored of one.
Homemade Coconut Oil Lotion Recipe
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (I buy mine at Amazon)
- 1 teaspoon Vitamin E (I simply used a few capsules – Amazon)
- a few drops of any essential oil (optional, but recommended)
You’ll just need the ingredients, a mixer, and a bowl.
Measure the ingredients, combine them in a bowl and mix them for a few minutes until you get a fine, creamy mixture. Then, simply store the coconut oil lotion recipe in a plastic jar with a lid.
Note: At first, you might feel that the lotion is a bit too greasy, but after a while your skin will get used to it and absorb it faster.
If you are a fan of essential oils for their beautiful scent or their added benefits, I highly recommend Edens Garden essential oils. My personal favorites for these recipe are the Good Night blend for my night lotion, and the Lavender for my daily lotion.
