Here is what will happen when you put a piece of onion in your ear

Ever have an ear infection? Some claim there is a way to deal with it only using a piece of raw onion. Ear infections are common in children, and when doctors make a diagnosis, they tend to prescribe antibiotics.

According to one how-to, there’s an “onion ear muff,” which should not be used in lieu of antibiotics. “The warmth of the onion soothes the pain almost immediately and the vapors from the onion help to fight the infection,” the how-to says

“This remedy offers a 2-for-1 punch against ear infections! To make an onion ear muff slice an onion in half and scoop out the inner layers until only the last 2-3 rings remain. Heat the onion in the oven for about 15 minutes at 300 degrees until it is warm and slightly steaming. Wrap the onion in a towel and cup it over the infected ear. Repeat as often as necessary to soothe pain,” it adds.

If you ever have a painful earache try this age old self-healing trick. Grab an onion, cut it open, and take out the central-most portion of it. Place the onion heart in the opening of your ear before you go to sleep and when you wake up you should feel much better. The onion will soften any built up ear wax and make it easier to remove. It also works overnight to naturally and effectively decrease any inflammation in the ear that is causing you pain.

Nowadays people seem to be popping pills like they’re candy, we get an ache here and a pain there and we make a beeline straight for the medicine cabinet. However, it turns out dabbling in a tub of tablets from your local pharmaceutical store may not be the way forward to solving your physical woes.

What is the answer then I hear you ponder… apparently the secret lies in natural remedies not synthetic medication. More specifically I’m talking about one of the world’s healthiest foods that doubles as a medicinal agent, onions. Obviously not when they are deep fat fried in an onion bhaji (although they do taste bloody good) but when the vegetable is used in a variety of different ways that you may have never considered before.

That’s me telling you that a staple cupboard ingredient can help to alleviate the struggles of earache. Take the heart – the innermost part of the onion – and insert it into your ear. They are known to decrease the pain and soften the wax, ultimately acting as an incredible natural anti-inflammatory.
